“The Divine Grace of Sri Nidheeswarar – A Temple of Power and Prosperity”
Among the countless holy temples of Lord Shiva, many have been consecrated by sages, siddhars, and saints, who infused them with divine power through their worship and penance. One such temple, filled with immense spiritual significance, is the Sri Nidheeswarar Temple at Annamputhur, near Tindivanam in Viluppuram district, Tamil Nadu.
From the archaeological findings, It was learnt that the Sri Nidheeswarar Temple was constructed and worshipped by the Pallavas and the great chola king Raja Raja Chola over 1000 years ago. But the great shiva temple after years of natural calamities had left only the great Siva Lingam. The Shivalinga Itself belongs to an undated period estimated to be more than 1500 years old.
Over centuries of neglect and the loss of local kingship and temple caretakers, this magnificent temple fell into dilapidation. In 2010 a divine wave of change began. A group of spiritually inclined villagers, blessed with bhakti and ancestral heritage, initiated a renovation movement.
Lord Nidheeswarar, the presiding deity, is believed to have been worshipped by Lord Brahmma to get rid of curse incurred by shiva’s wrath in Thiruvannamalai.
Kuberaa prayed to this mighty shiva and obtained Navanidhis and was awarded the title “The Lord of Wealth”. Hence shiva got the name Srinidheeswarar means “Lord of Wealth and Treasure”. Devotees believe that sincere prayers here help in Overcoming financial burdens, Clearing debts, Attaining peace and prosperity, Removing obstacles and doshas in astrology. Worshipping here, even once, is said to invite the blessings of Lord Nidheeswarar and goddess Sri Kanaga Thiripurasundari.
Born in a land sanctified by sages, saints, and yogis, Sri Nidheeswarar Temple stands as a beacon of divine power and ancient heritage.
Consecrated by great kings and worshipped by Lord Brahmma and Kubera, this sacred temple is believed to remove obstacles, clear debts,
bring prosperity, and uplift the spiritual life of all devotees.
